How well do athletic scholarships really pay?

Let’s say that you are a great athlete with great grades in a sport such as field hockey or archery, not a sport that really packs a stadium. Are there really that many opportunities to get an athletic scholarship? I’m of the opinion that it’s really hard to get one in a less visible sport but I have no way of finding this type of information anywhere. Does anyone know of a web-site that may show this kind of info?

They can range from a partial to full ride scholarship meaning that both tuition and room and board is included. The college needs to be division 1 or 2 in order to locate an athletic scholarship. If a sport is an intercollegiate team with the NCAA, most likely there is a scholarship for it at the school if it is a division one or two school. I recommend contacting the coaches of the schools you are interested in playing for their team through the link on the team’s page for recruitment.
