In Archery the most important factor for all is the bow. Taking this equation into consideration, We should also take in the weight and length of the bow that we use. There is a newer modern practice, This practice is for beginners to use lighter bows. This is essentially true, Especially for girls as well as woman. Girls and woman are often discouraged when first starting archery, Essentially when fitted with a bow that is to strong for them to handle. Taking this theory into consideration, The learners bow should light enough for them to handle with a degree of ease. This way they may concentrate on the form of there shooting, Also they will not have to struggle to draw there bow.

For Women – Bows in length of about 5′6”, 18 to 25 pounds

For Men – Bows in length of about 5′8” to 5′10”, Usually around 28 to 40 pounds

For Younger Boys and Girls – Of course lighter equipment will probably be necessary
Most bows vary in length from around 5′ to 6′ feet. Weights can vary widely, These are usually between 20 to as much as 60 pounds for target use. When it comes to group instruction the possession of extremely light bows, Lets say between 7 to 10 pounds, These are used merely for the purpose of learning how to draw the bow, Also so they may be drawn at full draw position.
